Awendaw Green

Driving up North Highway 17 past Mount Pleasant gets you away from city traffic fast. You pull off the asphalt onto the dirt grounds of Awendaw Green and hear acoustic guitars tuning up near the old wooden barn. Parking is casual, right on the grass under massive pine trees.

The crowd brings lawn chairs, coolers packed with drinks, and dogs on leashes. It doesn't feel like a corporate venue at all. There is a blazing fire pit crackling near the main stage area, and wood-fired pizza smells amazing drifting from the food truck parked nearby.

You grab a spot on the grass as the sun goes down behind the trees. Local songwriters take turns swapping stories and playing original tunes on the open stage. Nobody is rushing you out, and the whole night just flows easy under the lowcountry stars.
